Integrating XAJ Model with GIUH Based on Nash Model for Rainfall-Runoff Modelling

Abstract: The geomorphologic instantaneous unit hydrograph (GIUH) is an applicable approach that simulates the runoff for the ungauged basins. The nash model is an efficient tool to derive the unit hydrograph (UH), which only requires two items, including the indices n and k. Theoretically, the GIUH method describes the process of a droplet flowing from which it falls on to the basin outlet, only covering the flow concentration process. The traditional technique for flood estimation using GIUH method always uses the eff… Show more

“…On the other hand, in the Temon sub-watershed, the discrepancies are 33.88%, 28.63%, and 25.09% for q p , t p , and t b , respectively. The determination of unit hydrograph by the method of GIUH requires information on the Instantaneous Unit Hydrograph or IUH and values of constants n and k from the Nash Model [2,3] This was probably due to the two geomorphological characteristics being different. Another reason is due to the rainfall event that took place unevenly over the entire catchment.…”

“…There were several works related to GIUH model developments, and among of them were those carried out by Azizian [1], Chen et al [2] and Sulistyowati et al [3]. Azizian [1] recommended both Kirpich and Ventura time of concentration equations whereas Chen et al [2] and Sulistyowati et al [3] only utilized the Kirpich time of concentration equation.…”

“…Therefore, hydrological models have become the key way to solve such problems [3]. Commonly used hydrological models include the SHE model, SWAT model [4][5][6][7], TOPMODEL model [8][9][10], and the Xinanjiang model [11,12], etc. With further research, various coupling models have been widely used.…”

“…Rainfall data are important basic data in hydrological and water resources research. These types of data are some of the main driving data forms in water resource evaluation, water cycle simulation [1][2][3][4], and water use efficiency calculation [5,6]. How to construct a scientific and reasonable rainfall network to obtain rainfall data has always been the most basic and important part of hydrological measurement work.…”
