Interdigitated Electrodes (IDEs)-Supported Biosensing for Efficient Point-of-Care Applications

Abstract

The interdigitated electrodes (IDEs)-based biosensors emerging as highly-performance 5th and 6th-generation sensing systems. But the details of IDE’s design, fabrication, and further functionalization of surfaces to manipulate properties are always among the key challenges that need to be explored. Therefore, systematic efforts are required to explore new design and fabrication approaches along with optimizing surface chemistry to generate sites required for direct sensing or immobilizing optimized biomolecules to achieve efficient biosensing. In this direction, the presented perspective discusses the suitability of IDEs-based biosensors for early-stage disease detection, monitoring, and management along with the associated challenges and future directions.
