Abstract:Singlet fission (SF) is a spin-allowed exciton multiplication process, in which a photogenerated singlet separates efficiently into two free triplets. Herein, we report an experimental study on the solution-phase intermolecular SF (xSF) in a prototype radical dianion system of PTCDA2−, which is produced from its neutral precursor PTCDA (i.e., perylenetetracarboxylic dianhydride) via a two-step consecutive photoinduced electron transfer mechanism. Our ultrafast spectroscopic results enable a comprehensive mappi… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
