"Internal root resorption: An endodontic challenge": A case series

Abstract: Management of internal root resorption is a challenge to the endodontists. It may occur in cases with chronic pulpal inflammation, following caries or due to trauma in the form of an accidental blow. Most cases of internal root resorption are seen in anterior teeth, due to their susceptibility to trauma. However, it may be seen in posterior teeth, most likely because of carious involvement of the pulp. Early diagnosis, removal of the cause, proper treatment of the resorbed root is mandatory for successful trea… Show more

“…In this case, the defect was non-perforating, so it was filled with composite resin and root canal was filled with warm vertical compaction. 6,7 The difficulty in cleaning the concavity of resorption area requests a cleaning with chemical substances that have an appropriate organic solvent capacity. The endodontic instrumentation of that resorption area can cause a communication with the periodontium that could complicate the prognosis.…”

“…Internal root resorption has been described as intraradicular or apical, based on the location of the conditions. Intraradicular internal tooth resorption is an in lammatory condition that results in progressie destruction of intraradicular dentin & dentinal tubules along middle and apical third of the canal walls (Mittal et al, 2014). The resorptive spaces might be illed by granulation tissue or cementum like mineralised tissues.…”
