“…Adolescents, being at a special developmental stage, are more likely to adopt emotion‐focused maladaptive coping as a way of dealing with immediate emotional distress than problem‐focused adaptive coping (Duan et al, 2021). Surfing the internet using smartphones, such as browsing interesting web pages, can fulfill this very need to avoid instant emotional pain (Billieux, 2012; Khudhair, 2020).
