Abstract: Intestinal epithelial tight junctions (TJs), a dynamically regulated barrier structure composed of occludin and claudin family of proteins, mediate the interaction between the host and the external environment by allowing selective paracellular permeability between the luminal and serosal compartments of the intestine.
