Intra‐Abdominal Abscess Presenting Two to Twelve Years after Panproctocolectomy for Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Abstract: Three patients have presented to one Surgical Unit in one year with intra-abdominal sepsis presenting as left iliac fossa abscesses two to 12 years after panproctocolectomy performed for inflammatory bowel disease.Deep abscess should be borne in mind in patients with an ileostomy who present with back pain or signs of occult sepsis.
