Introduction—Biofunctional Molecules and Organic Synthesis

Abstract: Synthetic organic chemistry is a discipline different from biology. The former, however, can be a very useful tool to solve problems in biology. This chapter explains the reason why organic synthesis is useful in the studies of biofunctional molecules, and also details the ideas and techniques employed in the synthesis of biofunctional molecules.
