Abstract:Residual stresses (RS) are stresses present inside the materials and the structures even in absence of any applied external load. Residual stresses arise as a consequence of the complex sequence of steps starting from the material production, through machining, to final joining of subparts allowing manufacturing the final component [1]. Each production stage, in fact, such as casting, forming, joining, cutting, grinding, polishing, welding, heat treating, and so on, contributes to modify the pre-existing state… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
