“…It is widely accepted [24][25][26] that the optical properties and the scattering ability of the cool coated surface is mainly affected by the particle size and the refractive index of the oxides combined on layers coating [27,28]. Therefore, several studies were carried out to optimize the use of nanoparticles in cool coatings.…”

“…This is because the difference in refractive index between CaCO 3 particles and PVC matrix brings about good scattering property of PVC/CaCO 3 composite films, which also makes samples have good diffuse reflection property. [ 37 ] Furthermore, the reflectance of PVC/CaCO 3 composite films at UV region rises sharply, on account of the good reflection performance of CaCO 3 powder at UV region. This property of CaCO 3 powder can effectively reduce the damage to polymer matrix caused by UV radiation, which is beneficial to prolong the service life of composites.…”

“…For the shotcrete systems at high latitudes a low concentration reflector system is used. A wide range of paints are suitable to apply to the shotcrete that will act as a low concentration reflector while scattering the light (Kinoshita & Yoshida, 2016;De Masi et al, 2018). This includes solar reflectant self-cleaning paint that will improve both mechanical durability and albedo (Wang et al, 2020).…”
