Rapid population growth and economic expansion affect environmental sustainability by raising emissions from increased urbanization, industrialization, and energy consumption in South Asia. Therefore, the current research aims to scrutinize the dynamic impacts of urbanization, industrialization, and energy consumption on carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) emissions in five South Asian countries (Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka) under the umbrella of the famous stochastic regression for impact for technology, population, and asset on environmental condition (STIRPAT) model. This research employed the second-generation unit root and cointegration tests by applying the data from 1972 to 2021 to investigate the existence of slope heterogeneity (SH) and cross-sectional dependence (CSD) problem. After checking CSD, SH, unit root, and cointegration tests, the research utilized cross-sectional autoregressive distributive lag (CS-ARDL) as a baseline model and augmented mean group (AMG), mean group (MG), and common correlated effects mean group (CCEMG) as a robustness check. The evidence shows that the economic boom, urbanization, and industrialization increase CO 2 emissions. CO 2 emissions in South Asian nations have been reduced due to population growth, natural resources rent, and electrification. All estimators point to urbanization's negative effects, being far more severe than any other environmental impact. Conversely, natural resource rent prevents environmental degradation more effectively than electricity. Therefore, it is recommended that South Asian economies adopt consistent, sustainable economic policies to reap the benefits of industrialization, urbanization, and increased electricity use. The findings are generally consistent with the policy implications.

Utilizing Fourier autoregressive distributed lag and Fourier Toda–Yamamoto causality methodologies, this research assesses the effects that renewable energy consumption and environmental policy had on the economic sustainability of China from 1991 to 2022. Our findings highlight the positive impacts of renewable energy use and stringent environmental policies on China’s economic growth, while also pinpointing the supportive roles played by foreign direct investment, trade openness, and financial sector evolution in fostering a sustainable economic environment. Conversely, a reliance on fossil fuels emerges as a significant barrier to sustainability. Causality tests confirm the essential roles of renewable energy and environmental policies in advancing China’s economic sustainability. This study underscores the critical need for integrating sustainable energy and environmental strategies within China’s economic development framework, advocating for a holistic policy approach that balances economic growth with environmental conservation. This research underscores the imperative for a sustainability-centered strategy for China’s economic advancement.

This study aims to investigate the impact of eco‐friendly technology on environmental degradation indicated using the load capacity factor (LCF) with the framework of the Load Capacity Curve (LCC) hypothesis. In this regard, an environmental degradation function is formed and analyzed using the Augmented Autoregressive Distributed Lag (AARDL) approach during the period spanning from 1975 to 2021 for India. The outcome indicates that eco‐friendly technology reduces the LCF, thereby fostering environmental degradation in the long run, but the relationship is not significant in the short run. Further, an N‐shaped LCC hypothesis has been observed in both long and short runs. Besides, energy consumption exhibits a LCF reducing or environmental degradation boosting role in the short run and long run. These findings are consistent with other models that are used to check the robustness of AARDL‐based results. Thus, the study recommends policies for promoting eco‐friendly technology, judicious economic growth, and cautious energy consumption to attain sustainable development by increasing the LCF in India.
