Investigating the pyrolysis kinetics of Pinus sylvestris using thermogravimetric analysis

Abstract: Thermogravimetric analyses of Pinus sylvestris from Xinxiang were performed to investigate its kinetic characteristics, which could provide information for industrial applications. Thermal degradation experiments were conducted at various heating rates of 10 °C/min, 20 °C/min, and 60 °C/min using a thermogravimetric analysis-differential scanning calorimetry (TG-DSC) analyzer with an inert environment. The peak pyrolysis temperatures of the three major components (hemicellulose, cellulose, and lignin) were pre… Show more

“…Seagrass photosynthetic rate declines and mobilizes carbohydrate reserves to maintain metabolic processes under low light conditions (Ralph et al, 2007), resulting in a significant decrease in the soluble sugar content (Burke et al, 1996;Schmidt et al, 2012). Hemicellulose is a structural carbohydrate that plays a vital role in the strength of plant cell walls (Xu et al, 2020). Hemicellulose accounts for the major part of TI 1 , so the hemicellulose content should follow the same trend as TI 1 .…”

“…The isoconversional method, sometimes termed the model-free method, has been broadly used in biomass pyrolysis kinetics , but has been implemented in only a few cases of waste tyre pyrolysis kinetics. , However, model-based methods have been used extensively to evaluate the waste tyre devolatilisation kinetic triplets. Leung and Wang explored waste tyre pyrolysis by constructing two simulation models based on the DTG curve: the three-component-simulation model and the three-elastomer-simulation model.…”

“…According to Huang et al (2020), the main pyrolytic products obtained from water hyacinth roots, stems, and leaves were phenols, furans, and nitrides. Pine trunks have been investigated in related literature, indicating their pyrolysis characteristics with the exclusion of their residues such as PN (Sun et al 2017;Xu et al 2020). The pyrolysis conditions (such as temperature, heating rate) and their impact on the yield of bio-oil obtained from pine needles have been studied (Varmal et al 2015(Varmal et al , 2018.…”
