Investigation of Rheological Test Methods for the Suitability of Mortars for Manufacturing of Textile-Reinforced Concrete Using a Laboratory Mortar Extruder (LabMorTex)

Abstract: One of the promising technologies to produce carbon textile-reinforced concrete structures is extrusion. For defect-free extrusion, high requirements are placed on the fresh concrete, since it must be transportable through the augers in the extruder and must not change the desired geometric shape after leaving the mouthpiece. For the rheologic description of suitable concretes or mortars for the extrusion process, there is currently a lack of test methods to characterise the fresh concrete before extrusion. At… Show more

“…As in the studies in [13][14][15]22,51,53], an Eirich R05T intensive mixer, with a maximum capacity of 40 L, was used for the production of the concrete (Mixture C1, Table 1) for the extrusion process. For improved control of the process during batching, the engine's data, the mixer's temperature and the resistance torque were monitored during the mixing procedures.…”

“…A new serial production method for CRC components is the extrusion process, as presented in [13][14][15]. Normally, plain concrete elements or fibre-reinforced concrete elements are produced using extrusion processes based on additive manufacturing [16][17][18][19].…”
