Abstract. An Angular Correlated Configuration Interaction method is extended and applied to exotic threebody atomic systems with general masses. A recently proposed angularly correlated basis set is used to construct, simultaneously and with a single diagonalization, ground and excited states wave functions which: (i) satisfy exactly Kato cusp conditions at the two-body coalescence points; (ii) have only linear parameters; (iii) show a fast convergency rate for the energy; (iv) form an orthogonal set. The efficiency of the construction is illustrated by the study a variety of three-body atomic systems [m 1 S and several excited n 1,3 S state energies are compared with those given in the literature, when available. We also present a short discussion on the critical charge necessary to get a stable three-body system supporting two electrons, an electron and a muon, or two muons.

Abstract.In this work we present fully differential cross sections (FDCSs) calculations using post and prior version of CDW-EIS theory for helium single ionization by 100 MeV C 6+ amu −1 and 3.6 MeV amu −1 Au 24+ and Au 53+ ions. We performed our calculations for different momentum transfer and ejected electron energies. The influence of internuclear potential on the ejected electron spectra is taken into account in all cases. We compare our calculations with absolute experimental measurements. It is shown that prior version calculations give better agreement with experiments in almost all studied cases.

The existing formulations of electron-impact ionization of a hydrogenic target suffer from a number of formal problems including an ambiguous and phase-divergent definition of the ionization amplitude. An alternative formulation of the theory is given. An integral representation for the ionization amplitude which is free of ambiguity and divergence problems is derived and is shown to have four alternative, but equivalent, forms well suited for practical calculations. The extension to amplitudes of all possible scattering processes taking place in an arbitrary three-body system follows. A well-defined conventional post form of the breakup amplitude valid for arbitrary potentials including the long-range Coulomb interaction is given. Practical approaches are based on partial-wave expansions, so the formulation is also recast in terms of partial waves and partialwave expansions of the asymptotic wave functions are presented. In particular, expansions of the asymptotic forms of the total scattering wave function, developed from both the initial and the final state, for electronimpact ionization of hydrogen are given. Finally, the utility of the present formulation is demonstrated on some well-known model problems.
