Używając tylko nici chirurgicznych, można zaopatrzyć praktycznie każdy ubytek tęczówki lub źrenicy. Jedynym warunkiem jest dostateczna "ilość" nieuszkodzonej tkanki tęczówki. Zmiany pourazowe, pozapalne, pooperacyjne oraz wrodzone anomalie tęczówki mogą być zaopatrzone w ten sposób, dając poprawę widzenia oraz estetyki oka.
