“…Therefore, it is important to control pain after nasal surgeries regardless of the type of packing material used. Although the advantage of postoperative nasal packing over stents or simple sutures has recently been challenged, 7 nasal packing is still necessary in some situations such as extensive sinus surgery, revision surgery, epistaxis due to anticoagulants or clotting disorder, or complex fracture requiring packing for stability. 8,9 The use of nasal packing for postoperative bleeding control thus cannot be fully replaced, and further research to reduce pain in applying and removing packing materials should thus be conducted.…”
