“…Such studies were valid from the scientific standpoint for demonstrating a biological event, but could not be directly extrapolated to a complex organism due to the large number of interactions with other metabolic pathways (López-Carlos et al 2011). Mersmann and Shparber (1993) found isolated adipocytes to be smaller than in vivo adipocytes, but the quantification of lipolysis was similar. Thus, there were innumerous exceptions to this rule.…”
