Isatis indigotica root polysaccharides as adjuvants for an inactivated rabies virus vaccine

Abstract: Adjuvants can enhance vaccine immunogenicity and induce long-term enhancement of immune responses. Thus, adjuvants are important for vaccine research. Polysaccharides isolated from select Chinese herbs have been demonstrated to possess various beneficial functions and excellent adjuvant abilities. In the present study, the polysaccharides IIP-A-1 and IIP-2 were isolated from Isatis indigotica root and compared with the common vaccine adjuvant aluminum hydroxide via intramuscular co-administration of inactivate… Show more

“…The ratio of the adjuvant to the total volume was 50:50 for alum adjuvant (volume v/v). The mice in three different doses groups (eight mice per group) of L-EPS were subcutaneously immunized respectively with 0.2 mL PBS containing 100, 200 or 400 μg of L-EPS (Lee, Hwang, & Yun, 2009;Zhang et al, 2016;Zhang et al, 2017) and 20 μg of OVA; in alum adjuvant group with 0.2 mL of alum adjuvant containing 20 μg of OVA; in L-EPS group with 0.2 mL of PBS containing 200 μg of L-EPS; in OVA group with 0.2 mL of PBS containing 20 μg of OVA; PBS-treated mice as a control group. Blood samples were collected from the retinal vein at day 0, 14 and 28.…”

“…INR has a significant effect on chronic myelocytic leukemia (CML), and a possible mechanism has been investigated in animal studies (Mohan et al, 2018). Analogously, the pharmacological activities of nucleosides, organic acids, amino acids, and polysaccharide in I.indigotica have also been widely investigated (Chen et al, 2009;Zhang et al, 2016).…”

“…2,4,14,4, Crude total polysaccharides or two purified polysaccharides, PCP-I and PCP-II from Poria cocos could enhance the humoral responses to the H1N1 influenza and HBsAg vaccines. 14,24,26 To better characterize the immuneenhancing ability of PCP-I, in the present study we used the PA of B. anthracis as a model antigen, and analyzed systematically the adjuvant capabilities of PCP-I to enhance the immunogenicity and protection of an anthrax protective antigen-based vaccine.…”
