“…In this special issue alone, eight of the 22 articles focused on one of these two topics. Here again, we suggest that future researchers should examine outcomes of residents' perceptions of overtourism and peer-to-peer accommodations such as intentions to act, such as compromised relations between residents and tourists (Cheung & Li, 2019), protest and resistance (Smith et al, 2019), support of degrowth (Wegerer & Nadegger, 2020), and civic engagement (Torres, 2021). Of course, residents' empowerment may also factor into perceptions of overtourism and peer-to-peer accommodations (given its noted use within this issue).…”
