Jack‐Up Risk and Reliability

Abstract

Jack‐up risk and structural reliability studies from the late 1980s and onward are critiqued. They are few in number, particularly risk assessments, and of those available, the findings are presented in incompatible formats making direct comparisons challenging. Notwithstanding, valuable trends are identified. Early reliability analyses are found to ignore the possibility of windward leg uplift, which has a significant effect on the outcome. Few component reliability results are reported and although more system results are found, the modeling differences are significant making comparisons difficult.
