Juvenile Waivers

Abstract: Juvenile waiver to adult court has been in existence since the creation of the juvenile court system, although the practice expanded in the 1990s. It generally focuses on transferring the most violent and serious juvenile offenders to the adult criminal justice system. Multiple factors influence the waiver decision, including legal and extralegal. In addition, juvenile waiver has an impact on multiple court outcomes, as well as recidivism.
