Ketosis Proportionately Spares Glucose Utilization in Brain

Abstract: The brain is dependent on glucose as a primary energy substrate, but is capable of utilizing ketones such as b-hydroxybutyrate and acetoacetate, as occurs with fasting, starvation, or chronic feeding of a ketogenic diet.
