Abstract:Abstract. This paper employs transm ission matrices to investigate the motion of a rigid body about a fixed point. Formulas to calculate coordinates, ve locities, and the accelerations of points on the body are presented. The method separates generalized velocities and accelerations making it particularly useful to the study of a wide range of problems in dynamics such as, for example, the calculation of the inertia matrix.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
