The importance of the problem of reduced motor activity in the prophylaxis and treatment of many diseases has resulted in numerous adaptations of a diagnostic tool, both for the disease and for linguistic and cultural versions. This also applies to cardiovascular diseases. The significance of the problem, and encouraging results of several studies, have led to a wider use of this tool. This also applies to people suffering cardiologically in Poland, where this problem is poorly understood. This was the inspiration to undertake research on the explanation of the reasons for the limitation in the activation of cardiac patients. Objective. The aim of the study was to determine the level of kinesiophobia in patients with CAD, and to assess its possible association with physical activity (PA), socio-demographic determinants and morbidity. Materials and method. The study was cross-sectional and included 217 hospitalized patients with CAD: 94 women and 123 men; aged 67.39 years. PA was assessed using the short version of IPAQ, and kinesiophobia was assessed using TSK Heart in Polish adaptation. TSK HeartIPAQ correlations were found. Results. More than 70% of the patients revealed high levels of kinesiophobia (TSK>37 points). There were no TSK associations with gender, BMI, socio-demographic variables, other conditions and duration of cardiovascular disease. The disease is the main cause of kinesiophobia and regardless of its nature, negatively affects the level of PA.Conclusions. The quality of life of patients with CAD at various stages and the effectiveness of cardiolog-ical rehabilitation are conditioned by PA.

Background: Comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is a process designed to restore full physical, psychological and social activity and to reduce cardiovascular risk factors. Fear of movement may contribute to the occurrence and intensification of hypokinesia, and consequently affect the effectiveness of therapy. The aim of the study was to determine the level of barriers of physical activity in patients undergoing cardiac rehabilitation. The relationship between selected determinants (age and health selfassessment) and the kinesiophobia level were also examined.Material/Methods: 115 people aged 40-84 years were examined: 50 females (x = 63.46; SD = 11.19) and 65 males (x = 64.65; SD = 10.59) - patients undergoing cardiac rehabilitation at the Upper-Silesian Medical Centre in Katowice. In the present study, the Polish version of questionnaires: Kinesiophobia Causes Scale (KCS) and Short Form Health Survey (SF-36) were used. Questionnaires were supplemented by authors’ short survey.Results: The patients presented an elevated level of kinesiophobia, both in general as well as in individual components. In women, the kinesiophobia level was higher than in men. The psychological domain was a greater barrier of physical activity than the biological one. Strong, negative correlations of psychological and biological domains of kinesiophobia to physical functioning (SF-36) were noted in women. In the case of men, correlations were weaker, but also statistically significant.Conclusions: 1. Sex differentiates patients in their kinesiophobia level 2. Poor self-assessment of health is associated with a greater intensification of kinesiophobia 3. A high level of kinesiophobia may negatively affect cardiac rehabilitation process

Poczucie własnej wartości oraz wartości własnego ciała u osób ćwiczących regularnie na siłowni-wyniki badań pilotażowych Self-esteem and the value of body in people who exercise regularly at the gymthe results of pilot studies Streszczenie Wstęp. Ćwiczenie na siłowni staje się coraz bardziej popularne, zarówno wśród kobiet, jak i wśród mężczyzn. Regularne treningi, poza zmianami morfologicznymi oraz funkcjonalnymi mogą mieć wpływ na zmiany pewnych aspektów psychologicznych, szczególnie dotyczących poczucia własnej wartości oraz postrzegania własnego ciała. Cel. Postanowiono określić poziom poczucia własnej wartości oraz poczucia wartości własnego ciała u osób ćwiczących na siłowni. Ponadto celem badań było zbadanie wzajemnych zależności między tymi rodzajami samooceny oraz ocena wpływu wieku i stażu treningowego na ich poziom u kobiet i u mężczyzn. Materiał i metody. Zbadano 73 osoby regularnie ćwiczące na siłowni: 23 kobiety i 50 mężczyzn. Narzędziem badawczym był kwestionariusz, zawierający Skalę Samooceny Rosenberga (SES) oraz Skalę Poczucia Wartości Własnego Ciała (BES). Wyniki. Zarówno kobiety, jak i mężczyźni ocenili poczucie własnej wartości na poziomie 59% możliwych do uzyskania punktów. Również poczucie wartości własnego ciała i jego składowe były powyżej połowy możliwych do uzyskania punktów. Nie znaleziono korelacji poczucia własnej wartości z poczuciem wartości własnego ciała. Odnotowano silne wzajemne korelacje między składowymi skali BES. Wśród kobiet odnotowano korelację wieku z wynikami SES. Wnioski. Osoby ćwiczące na siłowni mają dobry poziom globalnej samooceny oraz poczucia wartości własnego ciała. Badane rodzaje samooceny nie są wzajemnymi korelatami. Aspekty poczucia wartości własnego ciała są ze sobą skorelowane. Wśród kobiet wiek wpływa dodatnio na poczucie własnej wartości.
