Kinetics and Energetic Parameters Study of Phenol Removal from Aqueous Solution by Electro-Fenton Advanced Oxidation Using Modified Electrodes with PbO2 and Graphene

Abstract: The Electro-Fenton oxidation process is one of the essential advanced electrochemical oxidation processes used to treat Phenol and its derivatives in wastewater. The Electro-Fenton oxidation process was carried out at an ambient temperature at different current density (2, 4, 6, 8 mA/cm2) for up to 6 h. Sodium Sulfate at a concentration of 0.05M was used as a supporting electrolyte, and 0.4 mM of Ferrous ion concentration (Fe2+) was used as a catalyst. The electrolyte cell consists of graphite modified by an e… Show more

“…Phenol is readily absorbed via skin contact, inhalation, or ingestion [3]. Due to its dangerous effects in tiny doses, the Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) has categorized phenol as a priority pollutant, requiring treatment even if a phenol concentration is less than 1 ppm before release [4].…”

“…EF is one of the most important AOPs because it reduces the cost and risk of transporting hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) when compared to other methods. The power used for the EF process is pure and pollution-free; it also does not produce secondary pollutants [15]. AOPs have gained popularity in physic-chemical systems because they enable the production of hydroxyl radicals (OH • ) which are non-selective oxidants that can react with several organic molecules very quickly [16].…”
