“…This HCV prevalence was different from other studies among beauticians in Ghana (0.5%), 30 Brazil (0.8%), 10 Izmir, Turkey (0.9%), 29 Morocco (1.7%), 28 Teheran, Iran (2.0%), 25 Sivas, Turkey (2.8%), 37 and Pakistan (6.97%). 38 We may not have had a sufficient sample size to detect HCV infection in a low prevalence population, and we calculated our sample size based on estimating HBV prevalence, not HCV prevalence.…”

“…Worldwide, 130-150 million individuals are chronically infected with HCV (WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION, 2015). In Brazil, HCV prevalence is 1.38% among individuals living in all geographical regions and among certain groups, such as beauticians and military personnel is less than 1% (PEREIRA et al, 2013;VILLAR et al, 2014;VILLAR et al, 2015).…”

“…In this context, anti-HBc reactivity has been reported to be 1.7% among health professionals, 5.9% among beauticians, and 12.8% among recyclable waste collectors. [5][6][7] Anti-HCV seroprevalence has a narrower range: 0.2% among children, 1.3% among crack users, and 1.4% among truck drivers. [8][9][10] Young men are group in whom it is very important to recognize risk behaviors associated with parenterally transmitted diseases.…”
