Knowledge Domains and Emerging Trends of Osteoblasts-Osteoclasts in Bone Disease From 2002 to 2021: A Bibliometrics Analysis and Visualization Study

Abstract: BackgroundOsteoblasts-Osteoclasts has been a major area in bone disease research for a long time. However, there are few systematic studies in this field using bibliometric analysis. We aimed to perform a bibliometric analysis and visualization study to determine hotspots and trends of osteoblasts-osteoclasts in bone diseases, identify collaboration and influence among authors, countries, institutions, and journals, and assess the knowledge base to develop basic and clinical research in the future.MethodsWe co… Show more

“…RANKL can not only bind to the functional receptor- RANK but also bind to the decoy receptor- OPG. The OPG/RANK/RANKL system plays a key regulatory role in maintaining the dynamic balance between bone resorption and bone formation, preventing bone loss, and ensuring normal bone turnover and renewal [ 44 , 45 ]. Its mechanism of action is that osteoclasts (OC) and osteoblasts (OB) mediate the process of bone resorption and synthesis, respectively.…”

“…Secondly, the other pathway of wear particle-induced osteolysis is the RANKL/RANK signal pathway [ 29 , 30 ]. Osteolysis is generally considered a consequence of a disturbance in the mechanisms that govern the bone remodeling, mainly the communication between osteoclasts and osteoblasts [ 31 ]. RANKL is a transmembrane protein expressed by osteoblasts, stromal cells, and immune cells within the bone marrow.…”

“…The scientometric methods were first applied to obtain a holistic and comprehensive view based on the published studies on citrus flavonoids, which is an application of mathematical and statistical methods to perform retrospective reviews, calculate correlations in publication data, elucidate current research progress, and predict research directions [ 8 ]. Scientometric methods have played an important role in bone disease research [ 9 ], hotspots of exercise for intervening diabetes [ 10 ], COVID-19 research [ 11 ], and exosome studies [ 12 ]. The numerous published articles were summarized through the scientometric methods for providing rich reference information for researchers in need based on keywords, highlights, and important research-related information.…”
