Abstract:In this paper, we highlight the involvement of Knowledge Management in a healthcare enterprise. We argue that the 'knowledge quotient' of a healthcare enterprise can be enhanced by procuring diverse facets of knowledge from the seemingly placid healthcare data repositories, and subsequently operationalising the procured knowledge to derive a suite of Strategic Healthcare Decision-Support Services that can impact strategic decision-making, planning and management of the healthcare enterprise. In this paper, we … Show more
“…HIS provide multiple users with a wide array of services that can be summarized as the generation of information enabling decision makers at all levels of the health system to identify problems and needs, make evidence-based decisions on health policy, allocate scarce resources optimally, and improve healthcare delivery (Abidi, 2001). For HIS, it is important to consider clinical decision support systems (CDSS).…”

“…HKM proposes tools and methodologies for the creation, identification, acquisition, development, preservation, dissemination, sharing, and utilization of medical knowledge in healthcare organizations (Abidi, 2001). We distinguish between HKM methods and tools derived from knowledge engineering for knowledge modeling in the form of ontologies and those for the identification and preservation of medical knowledge.…”

“…Moreover, Yang et al [38] proved that knowledge management as key success factors have positive relationship with organizational performances. Knowledge management have a positive relationship with organizational effectiveness [24,25,26,27,39,40], and significant influence on new product development performance [41], and competitive advantage [42,43]. Based on previous concepts and indications from previous researches, we could propose Hypothesis 6.…”

“…Healthcare enterprises can be regarded as 'data rich' (Abidi 2001) and the quality of this rich data is a crucial basis of strategic decision. This study proposed several data quality calculations and presentation methods meant to inform the decision maker of three data quality problems in a health planning/aggregated data environment: 1) missing data, 2) small sample sizes and 3) erratic trends in underlying data that could indicate incorrect data.…”
