Knowledge mapping and research hotspots of immunotherapy in renal cell carcinoma: A text-mining study from 2002 to 2021

Abstract: BackgroundRenal cell carcinoma (RCC) is one of the most lethal urological malignancies, and because early-stage RCC is asymptomatic, many patients present metastatic diseases at first diagnosis. With the development of immunotherapy, the treatment of RCC has entered a new stage and has made a series of progress. This study mainly outlines the knowledge map and detects the potential research hotspots by using bibliometric analysis.MethodsPublications concerning RCC immunotherapy from 2002 to 2021 in the Web of … Show more

“…Bibliometrics is a branch of library and information science that integrates mathematical and statistical methods to quantitatively analyze the published scientific literature, and then discusses its structure, characteristics and change trends in a certain period ( Cheng et al, 2022a ; Li et al, 2022a ; Shen et al, 2022a ; Cheng et al, 2022b ). In recent years, with more and more free open-source software such as CitNetExplorer, CiteSpace, HistCite, VOSviewer, and Bibliometrix have been developed, bibliometrics relying on literature databases has been frequently applied in biomedical field ( Synnestvedt et al, 2005 ; van Eck and Waltman, 2010 ; Aria and Cuccurullo, 2017 ; Liu et al, 2022 ). Take ultrasound technology as an example, several bibliometric studies have analyzed the publication trend and research hotspots in the field of spinal ultrasound ( Zhai et al, 2017 ), endoscopic ultrasound ( Chen et al, 2022 ), ultrasound microbubble ( Wu et al, 2021a ), ultrasound induced blood-brain barrier opening ( Wu et al, 2021b ).…”

“…Journal analysis is able to assist researchers accurately grasp the core journals in their research fields and quickly find the suitable journals for literature queries, data collection, and manuscript submission ( 29 , 40 , 41 ). Therefore, we have summarized the detailed information of the top 20 active journals in this field.…”

“…From the analysis result of the R Bibliometrix package, we easily obtained information from annual publications, which was then exported to Excel as data to forecast outputs of the next few years. Additionally, outputs of authors, countries/regions, and journals were obtained from this module (23,24). Moreover, information about total and annual publications, total cited articles, and total times were acquired.…”
