Knowledge transfer, buyer-supplier relationship and supplier performance in agricultural supply chain: an agency theory perspective

Abstract: Purpose This paper aims to examine the performance of marginalized farmers in supply relationships with agri-tech firms in emerging rural agricultural economies. The complex relationship among the suppliers, dual relationship and knowledge transfer (KT) was studied. This paper empirically investigates the relationship between KT and supplier’s performance improvement (SPI) via buyer–supplier relationship (BSR). Design/methodology/approach Grounded on agency theory, a conceptual framework has been proposed to… Show more

“…The study used these models to explain the importance of the observed variations among the firms and the desired impacts of the selected variables inside the sampled organizations over time. Following Sharma and Kumar (2011), Amin and Islam (2014), Yazdanfar and Ohuman (2014), Tutino and Pompili (2018), Alvarez et al (2021), Diwei et al (2022), Garg and Meentu (2022), Shukla et al (2022), and Sinha and Vodwal (2022), the following static panel models were adopted:…”

“…The theory examines the correlation between company owners (shareholders) and its managerial team. One argument is that sustainable practices align the interests of both groups over the long term (Shukla et al, 2023). These theories will aid in formulating hypotheses and crafting research plans to investigate the correlation between sustainable marketing strategies and financial performance.…”

“…Retailers have a higher influence on farmers in the agricultural crop protection market compared to suppliers or government extension staff. Securing competent retail distribution clients is crucial for pesticide manufacturers to improve their sales performance, while forming business relationships with manufacturing suppliers helps retailers improve their sales competitiveness (Kannan and Tan 2002;Shukla et al 2022).…”
