Ante la escasez de estudios socioagrarios municipales en El Salvador, el presente artículo tiene como objetivo identificar y analizar la cadena de valor del maíz blanco en el municipio de Ciudad Arce. Para ello, se utiliza como herramienta teórica el mapa de mercado, resaltando el entorno promotor, los actores de la cadena y los proveedores de servicios. Así, en este texto se evidencian tendencias diferentes a las presentadas en la cadena de valor a nivel nacional. Adicionalmente, se destaca un nutrido número de actores y prácticas de cooperación multinivel. Se finaliza identificando dos líneas de investigación poco exploradas y relacionadas con las cadenas de valor.
