Deepening trochleoplasty: indication, technical procedure, resultsThe indication of a trochleoplasty is very rare and the surgical procedure is highly demanding. The surgeon has to evaluate the anatomical abnormalities which lead to abnormal patellar tracking and to know what the surgical possibilities to correct them are. In high-grade patellar instability the trochlear shape has a convex trochlear dysplasia and this trochlea has to be modified. The deepening trochleoplasty is indicated in type B and D trochlear dysplasia.
