“…It is well demonstrated by multiple studies that the oral manifestations of infection with the herpes virus appear when the human body is subjected to the stress of adapting to large social, emotional or just physical differences, a fact that can affect the individual’s life balance and immunity [ 21 , 22 ]. Not by chance, exactly on the background of low immunity, we can have the unpleasant surprise of noticing the appearance of herpes on the lips, especially in children and young people [ 23 , 24 ]. Also, common causes that lead to herpetic relapses include a decrease in immune system effectiveness due to a serious illness, physical or emotional overwork, sleep deprivation, or multifactorial and continuous psychological stress.…”

“…Traumatic lesions of the lips, accompanied by loss of tissue were recognized by many authors as the most frequent injuries of the oral mucosa. [ 32 ] This was explained by the proximity of incisors and canines, teeth with sharp cusps and incisal margins. In our study, the distribution of injuries is in accordance with scientific data, as the oral commissure and lips were affected in 35.48% and 32.26% cases, respectively, while the tongue was injured only in 3.23% cases.…”

“…However, the vascularization of the lips is composed of small caliber arteries and veins, making blood flow a worrisome factor in reimplantation 2 . When reimplantation is unsuccessful, another therapeutic proposal involves labioplasty by means of flap advancement, especially in cases where tissue loss occurs 10 .…”

“…The lower lip has a single subunit, whereas the upper lip consists of lateral nasolabial units and a central philtral subunit, which makes its reconstruction more complex and challenging. These are structures that constitute the largest part of the lower third of the face and, consequently, have an important function in lip competence, facial mimicry and appearance, which makes the preservation of the orbicularis oris muscle of the mouth a key objective in reconstructions 1,10,14 .…”
