“…Thus the present study is consistent with the findings of a previous retrospective study in which ECGs were recorded at conventional speeds (Fisch, 1985). The patient receiving chlorpromazine was included since similar doses of chlorpromazine have not been found to have effects on the ECG (Moyer et al, 1954). At higher doses (150 mg day-' and above) effects which might alter the PR interval, and prolong the QRS duration have been reported (Backman & Eluoso, 1964) but none was detected in this patient.…”

“…Of these 19 objections, representative replies were, "It made me sick," "Nausea and vomiting," and "Sickness, smell, after-effects." Of the remaining 16 objections, these were couched in general terms such as "Dizzy, blurred," "Taste in my mouth afterwards," "Came on too fast," and "I don't like ether." On the basis of this, the conclusion can be reached that ether anesthesia is acceptable to most patients.…”

“…Left bundle branch block, ventricular tachycardia and fibrillation have also been reported. These complications are most frequently associated with thioridazine administration (ST. JEAN & DESAUTELS 1966), but ECG changes ascribed to chlorpromazine have previously been observed in animals (MOYER et a/. 1954), and more recently also in humans (POULSEN 1965).…”
