Directives for commodity development must take into account ideal land use. Land degradation will result from poor land management practices that go beyond the land’s carrying capacity. territory use planning for the growth of certain commodities is part of the direction of commodity development in a territory. The matching technique and the scoring method are the two main approaches that are typically used to evaluate land capabilities. The matching approach compares and matches land features with criteria for the land capacity classes to determine potential in each specific unit using tabular analytic techniques. The criteria for land suitability classes for food crops, namely rice, and horticulture crops, specifically snakefruit, were matched with climate data, data from observations in the field (physical environmental conditions), and data from laboratory study. The value of the Lumajang Regency’s land potential index was calculated and ranged from potential class II (high) to potential class V (extremely low). Potential class IV (low) covers an area of 21,852.20 ha or 12%, class V (very low) area of 883.13 ha, and class II (height) covers an area of 30,318.18 ha or 17% of the entire area of Lumajang Regency. Potential class III (middle) is the biggest class, encompassing 128,090.41 hectares or 70%. The Padang and Sumbersuko sub-districts include the majority of the potential class II regions, while Randuagung, Klakah, Kedungjajang, Gucialit, Senduro, Pasrujambe, Sukodono, and Pasirian sub-districts have part of the remaining class II areas.

Food, water, and energy scarcity threaten India's future, and they must be addressed first. To meet the country's ever-increasing population needs, agricultural productivity must be expanded. For the crop-land suitability, we have studied an area of about 6,539 km2 in Vizianagaram district. The majority of the land is used for paddy agriculture (Kharif). The crop-land suitability has been evaluated based on the different parameters identified in that study area. “Remote sensing (RS)” and “geographic information system (GIS)” were combined for the crop-land suitability using nine parameters. The slope, elevation, rainfall, soil texture, lithology, groundwater, land use–land cover (LULC), TWI, and land surface temperature are the primary criteria used to determine the crop-land suitability in the Vizianagaram district (AP). Thematic maps were created using Landsat 8 images and SRTM DEM images from USGS Earth Explorer. Based on these maps and the influence of these parameters, we may assign weights to the parameters and then rank them, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) allowing us to identify which area is more suitable for good crop productivity and which is not. In this study, the soils are divided into four categories: low suitability, moderate suitability, high suitability, and extremely high suitability. The suitability index is found to be in the range of 0–55.2%, which indicates the lack of outstanding agricultural lands in the sudy region.

In the process of developing industries to eradicate poverty, developing countries continue to invest more in their land use system, as this may provide a safeguard to food security through a healthy ecosystem and have a positive impact on sustainability. The Geographic Information System (GIS) has created an unprecedented world of possibilities for processing data from remote sensing and other sources. Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM), in conjunction with geospatial technology, provides a tool for industrial area mapping and management. The current research was conducted in three blocks of the Baleshwar district in northern Odisha, India. Analysis of a location's physical, social, and economic factors to see if it is good for a certain use, like an industrial setup, urban planning, or recreational use, is becoming more and more important in today's world so that important decisions can be made within a short period. Due to the fact that the present research location is located in close proximity to both hilly terrain and a coastal plan, the site's appropriateness may be improved by employing a variety of factors to design an industrial setup that is economically viable. The goal of the study is to apply land suitability analysis (LSA) to identify existing land use in areas with industrial growth potential so that agricultural and industrial development may focus on long‐term sustainability. According to this study, 16.6% (201.79 km2) of the area is highly suitable, 48.2% (586.96 km2) is moderately suitable, 15.5% (188.40 km2) is less suitable, and 19.71% (239.73 km2) is not suitable at all. Due to the abundance of raw materials, improved communication, and proximity to the shore, the Baleswar block has the largest percentage of highly suitable areas when compared to the Remuna and Nilgiri blocks of the research area.
