Langer’s mesomelic dysplasia

Abstract: Langer's mesomelic dysplasia is a rare cause of disproportionate dwarfism. The affected children have a normal intellect and life span and are usually seen later in life for management of skeletal deformities. The diagnosis is usually established on clinical and anthropometric analyses supported with relevant radiological investigations. Plain radiographs and full-length scanograms are sufficient in establishing the diagnosis. Further genetic studies are sometimes performed for confirmation, as Leri Weill dysc… Show more

“…62,64 Water-insoluble curcumin is a potentially anticancer drug, stemming from its ability to modulate growth of tumor cells through regulation of multiple cell signaling pathways. 65,66 Because of its minimal toxic effect on healthy cells, curcumin was loaded into GO/NP complexes to serve as the fluorescent tracer. Two control groups including the group coincubated with free curcumin and the blank control were also examined for comparison purposes.…”

“…It has been used in various research elds of physics, chemistry, biology and medicine because of its non-toxicity, biocompatibility, and natural occurrence. [27][28][29][30][31][32] The photo-physical and photo-chemical properties of curcumin have been applied for medicinal applications such as skin protection 27 and energy applications like dye-sensitized solar cells. 33 In the case of dye-sensitized solar cell using curcumin dye, the conversion efficiency (about 1%) was much lower than that obtained using Ru-based dye.…”

“…SHOX mutations can cause a broad phenotypic spectrum. Homozygous mutations cause a severe skeletal dysplasia, Langer mesomelic dysplasia , which is characterized by severe short stature, extreme shortening of the long bones in the arms and legs (mesomelia), and Madelung deformity [82]. Heterozygous mutations in SHOX cause a milder skeletal dysplasia, Léri-Weill dyschondrosteosis [83, 84], or can present as idiopathic short stature [85, 86].…”
