Laparoscopic Partial Splenectomy: Indications and results of a multicenter retrospective study

Abstract: Laparoscopic partial splenectomy is feasible and safe in children with hypersplenism or focal splenic tumours. Partial splenectomy is a good way to prevent postsplenectomy infections by preservation of the immune role of spleen in children with haematological diseases. This technique performed for focal splenic tumours allows the surgeon to choose the size of the splenic remnant.

“…Особые требования к прецизионности этой опера-ции связаны с необходимостью избежать ранений селезенки или ее сосудов при выделении в области ворот. Кроме того, имеется высокая вероятность возникновения послеоперационных кровотечений и инфарктов оставшейся части селезенки [8,16]. По этим причинам ЛС-способом предлагается выпол-нять технически простые операции фенестрации или резекции свода НК селезенки [7].…”

“…There have been recent reports of patients undergoing laparoscopic partial splenectomies for hereditary spherocytosis and focal splenic tumors [4,8]. The patients in these studies were, on average, older (ie, 8 and 12 years of age) than the patients in our study.…”

“…Acute SS can lead to acute hypovolemia with diminished perfusion and hypoxic injuries if not recognized early and treated promptly. Prevention of recurrent SS has typically involved total splenectomy, which in young patients may predispose them to a higher risk of sepsis and overwhelming postsplenectomy infection [3,4]. In this study, we examine the role of partial splenectomy in patients with multiple SS episodes requiring blood transfusions.…”

“…7,8 Several surgical methods have been applied to splenic hydatid cysts ranging from total splenectomy to more conservative procedures (partial splenectomy, cystic enucleation, or omentoplasty after partial resection of the cyst wall). 9 In this cases author performed partial splenectomy to all the cases.…”
