“…Previous late Paleozoic reconstructions typically adopted a paleogeographic configuration showing the unified Amuria block situated along the northern margin of the Paleo‐Asian Ocean (PAO) (e.g., Domeier & Torsvik, 2014; Kent & Muttoni, 2020; Kravchinsky, Sorokin, & Courtillot, 2002; Wilhem et al., 2012; Zhao et al., 1996). This configuration was challenged by studies on the closure of the Nenjiang Ocean, which separated the Songliao‐Jiamusi block from the Mongolia block during the late Paleozoic (Figure 1a; Liu et al., 2017, 2019; Ma et al., 2020; Miao et al., 2004; Song et al., 2015; Zhao et al., 2010; Zhou et al., 2015).
