Microwaves are non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation with waves of electrical and magnetic energy transmitted at different frequencies. They are widely used in various industries, including the food industry, telecommunications, weather forecasting, and in the field of medicine. Microwave applications in medicine are relatively a new field of growing interest, with a significant trend in healthcare research and development. The first application of microwaves in medicine dates to the 1980s in the treatment of cancer via ablation therapy; since then, their applications have been expanded. Significant advances have been made in reconstructing microwave data for imaging and sensing applications in the field of healthcare. Artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled microwave systems can be developed to augment healthcare, including clinical decision making, guiding treatment, and increasing resource-efficient facilities. An overview of recent developments in several areas of microwave applications in medicine, namely microwave imaging, dielectric spectroscopy for tissue classification, molecular diagnostics, telemetry, biohazard waste management, diagnostic pathology, biomedical sensor design, drug delivery, ablation treatment, and radiometry, are summarized. In this contribution, we outline the current literature regarding microwave applications and trends across the medical industry and how it sets a platform for creating AI-based microwave solutions for future advancements from both clinical and technical aspects to enhance patient care.

One of the pressing issues any country faces is managing solid wastes. Traditionally, several methods have been used in the past to manage the increasing quantity of solid waste. However, due to the increase in population, urbanization, and various other reasons, there has been steady growth in solid waste. The general public's cooperation is vital in understanding the extent of solid wastes, their generation, collection, transportation, and disposal of wastes safely. Urban local bodies also play a significant role in managing waste as they are the ones who can formulate a plan as per the data available to them. Infrastructure for managing solid wastes is another prime factor in easy transportation and disposal. There are different conventional methods starting from landfills, incineration, etc., to advanced methodologies. The use of incineration as the primary method of waste disposal is now a major source of health hazards. The present study reviews the important practical methods for solid waste management. The review is categorized into two sections: Conventional methodologies include incineration, thermal to waste energy techniques, bioeconomy, anaerobic digestion and waste valorization and the second section includes advanced methods such as green architecture, web-based geographic interface system, Internet of Things (IoT), optimization techniques, artificial intelligence and blockchain based solid waste management system. The present study also provides an overview of the advanced technologies as a support system for the sustainable management in solid waste. It also discusses the knowledge and awareness to be catered to all sections of people about sustainable solid waste management.

Perilaku manusia merupakan kapasitas secara mental, fisik, dan sosial. Salah satu perilaku tenaga kesehatan adalah pemilahan limbah medis padat. Tujuan penulisan artikel ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi perilaku tenaga kesehatan dalam pemilahan limbah medis padat. Artikel ini ditulis dengan menggunakan metode studi literatur melalui penelusuran literatur dari berbagai jurnal nasional dan internasional. Artikel yang digunakan adalah dari tahun 2013 hingga tahun 2023. Artikel yang digunakan sebanyak 12 artikel dari 28 artikel yang ditemukan. Penulis menggunakan database Pubmed, NCBI dan Google Scholar menggunakan kata kunci “perilaku”, “pemilahan”, “limbah padat” dan “faktor risiko”. Peneliti selanjutnya menganalisis dan menginterpretasikan dengan cara membuat rangkuman dari hasil penelitian pada artikel terpilih. Hasil penelitian dianalisis sesuai dengan kriteria yang telah ditentukan. Berdasarkan beberapa kajian hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan perilaku pemilahan limbah medis padat pada tenaga kesehatan adalah pengetahuan, sikap, nilai, tindakan, masa kerja, ketersediaan informasi dan kebijakan. Beberapa institusi pelayanan kesehatan ada yang sudah melakukan pengelolaan limbah medis padat sesuai ketentuan, seperti pemilahan, pengumpulan/ penyimpanan, transportasi, pemusnahan dan pembuangan akhir. Tetapi masih ada juga yang belum melakukan sesuai standar dikarenakan dana operasional dan pemeliharaan serta tidak adanya mesin incinerator yang tidak berfungsi dengan baik.
