Abstract:The experimental discovery of single-pulse ultrafast magnetization switching in ferrimagnetic alloys, such as GdFeCo and MnRuGa, opened the door to a promising route toward faster and more energy efficient data storage. A recent semi-phenomenological theory has proposed that a fast, laser-induced demagnetization below a threshold value puts the system into a dynamical regime where angular momentum transfer between sublattices dominates. Notably, this threshold scales inversely proportional to the number of exc… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
