Lattice Study for the Taiwan Photon Source

Abstract: The feasibility study for the new 3 GeV Taiwan synchrotron light source, dubbed Taiwan Photon Source, was initiated in July, 2004. The goal is to construct a high performance light source with extremely bright X-ray in complementary to the existing 1.5 GeV light source in Taiwan. The ring circumference is 518.4 m and a 24-cell DBA lattice structure is chosen. The natural emittance with distributed dispersion is around 2 nm-rad. A large booster ring of 499.2 m sharing the storage ring tunnel as well as a separa… Show more

“…The TPS is a 3-GeV synchrotron radiation facility that has been in operation since 2016. It is comprised of a 150 MeV S-band linac, a linac to booster transfer line (LTB), a booster synchrotron, booster to storage ring transfer line (BTS), and a storage ring with a circumference of 518.4 m [1]. The TPS, a synchrotron machine with low emittance and ultra-high photon brightness, necessitates a stable beam orbit for optimal performance.…”

“…The design beam current is 500 mA and presently the operational beam current is 400 mA with seven insertion devices. The lattice parameters are shown in table 1. In order to monitor and correct the beam orbit, in each cell seven beam position monitors (BPMs), seven slow and four fast horizontal/vertical correctors are installed.…”
