Laughing for Acceptance

Abstract: This article describes an intervention on how to use humor in counseling while working with family members who are demonstrating resistance in a counseling setting. Laughing for Acceptance, an intervention developed by the authors, is introduced as a therapeutic intervention for clinicians who work with families who are experiencing resistance or significant family strife. Specific techniques are explained, and a case study is provided.
