Le couvert forestier en Côte d’Ivoire : une analyse critique de la situation de gestion des forêts (classées, parcs et réserves)

Abstract: Preserving the forest is a "vital" action for maintaining the climate balance and promoting eco-tourism. The history mentions that the Ivorian forests played an important role in the dynamics of the development of the country because they sheltered a great diversity floristic and wildlife. Unfortunately, from 16 million hectares at the beginning of the last century (1900), the dense rainforest increased to 9 million hectares in 1965 and 3 million hectares in 1991. Today, it is estimated at about 2.5 million he… Show more

“…The state has neither ful lled the rights of use of local populations surrounding classi ed forests, nor compensated forest classi cation 28 . Further, the classi cation of some forests, such as the Rapide-Grah in the San-Pedro included villages inside the perimeters of the classi cation zone, without, however, delimiting the terroirs of the villages 29 . For these reasons, some populations living around classi ed forests continue to claim a right of ownership over the neighboring land supporting the classi ed forests, even though these forests legally belong to the A preliminary survey conducted prior to data collection identi ed four main reasons for forest in ltration, namely:…”

“…Le recours aux ressources forestières se traduit par une forte pression qui les expose à des risques de dégradations irréversibles. La destruction rapide des forêts (Kassoum, 2018) est d'autant plus dramatique que leur importance n'est pas reflétée par les indicateurs macro-économiques.…”

“…To overcome some of these difficulties, the kola research program in Côte d'Ivoire has focused on plant material by exploiting the intra-specific diversity of C. nitida. The deforestation due to intensive agriculture (1.44 to 3.44% per year), logging and urbanization (Traoré 2018;Kouassi et al 2021) makes it imperative to modernize and stabilize kola cultivation through the creation and selection of high-performance plant material. This activity requires a diversified collection for genetic recombination.…”
