Learning to Coordinate in a Decentralized Cognitive Radio Network in Presence of Jammers

Abstract: Efficient utilization of licensed spectrum in the cognitive radio network is challenging due to lack of coordination among the Secondary Users (SUs). Distributed algorithms proposed in the literature aim to maximize the network throughput by ensuring orthogonal channel allocation for the SUs. However, these algorithms work under the assumption that all the SUs faithfully follow the algorithms which may not always hold due to the decentralized nature of the network. In this paper, we study distributed algorithm… Show more

“…From the analysis above, it can be seen that the proposed CPJ-PDQN algorithm can optimize both the jamming channel and the jamming power at the same time and is suitable for the confrontation scenario where the jammer's energy is limited. In addition, the SDR technology is currently developing in the direction of miniaturisation and intelligence and has great prospects in the field of spectrum confrontation [39,40]. Therefore, the proposed scheme can be deployed in the UAV electronic jamming system because the UAV electronic jamming system require multiple jammers to work together in a coordinated manner to complete the jamming task.…”

“…In [7], an adversarial multiplayer MAB game is employed to model the problem of joint channel and power allocation in underwater acoustic communication networks, and presents a game-based distributed hierarchical exponential learning algorithm that effectively improves user learning ability and decreases learning time. Based on multi-player bandit model, Sawant et al [8] study distributed algorithms that are robust against malicious jamming attack and give constant regret with high confidence.…”

“…The concern of designing multiplayer bandit algorithms robust to such players has been raised (Attar et al, 2012), but only addressed under the quite restrictive assumption of adversarial players called jammers. Those try to perturb as much as possible the cooperative players (Wang et al, 2015;Sawant et al, 2018Sawant et al, , 2019, even if this is extremely costly to them as well. Because of this specific objective, they end up using tailored strategies such as only attacking the top channels.…”
