Letter to the Editor re: Superselective arterial embolisation with a liquid polyvinyl alcohol copolymer in patients with acute gastrointestinal haemorrhage
“…It was considered efficient and safe for embolization of arteriovenous malformations (AVM) of the central nervous system with a more extensive and more complete occlusion than cyanoacrylate glue and without the side effects described for the latter [6,7]. EVAC is now successfully used for peripheral embolization with a good delivery control and vessel filling in AVM or hemorrhage [8][9][10]. The potential interest of EVAC in BAE is to treat both the distal and proximal parts of bronchial arteries with a permanent embolizing agent to avoid recanalization.…”
BAE with EVAC seems to be feasible and safe with immediate control of hemoptysis in most patients. The postinjection fluoroscopic visibility of EVAC under fluoroscopy was inferior to CT.

“…However, Onyx Ò has some limitations that should be emphasized for use in interventional radiology, as previously reported [4]. First, DMSO can cause severe vasospasm, which is most likely to occur in the early phase of the procedure.…”
