Abstract

Umespirone (KC-9172) is a new agent currently under development for the treatment of chronic psychosis and anxiety disorders', the structure of which we proved by EIMS and NMR investigations'. KC-S172 (UMESPIRONE)For studies on the metabolism of KC-9172 male Sprague Dawley CD rats were given 100 mg/kg of the I4C labelled drug in a volume of 4 ml/kg (aqueous suspension in tylose) p. 0. by gavage. The pooled urine was incubated with a mixture of fl-glucuronidase/arylsulphatase, and the urinary metabolites were isolated by direct HPLC of the urine samples on ODs-Hypersil-C-18 with radioactivity detection.
