Library and Information Science Research in 1975: Content Analysis of the Journal Articles

Abstract: Library and Information scicnce research of 1975 is analysed. The data of the study consists of 632 articles, which had appeared in the sclected 30 44 core" Journals of library and Information science. A content analysis was performed and the articles were classified according to 10 variables covering their subject, methods and approaches. 56.80% (i.e. 359 articles) were classified äs research articles, the rest 43.20% (273 articles) äs non-research. “…Con respecto al alcance temporal, algunos estudios reflejan alcances limitados, varios toman como rango sólo un año (Eaton y Burgin, 1984;Feehan y otros, 1987, Kumpulainen, 1991 y con la utilización de pocas fuentes de datos, este período limitado de tiempo escasamente pueda reflejar un patrón de conducta o determinar tendencias; sin embargo al tomar las mismas taxonomías utilizadas en estudios anteriores complementan estudios iniciados con anterioridad lo cual sustenta la posibilidad de realizar comparaciones longitudinales.
