Lie-Group Approach to Perturbative Renormalization Group Method

Abstract: The Lie-group approach to the perturbative renormalization group (RG) method is developed to obtain an asymptotic solutions of both autonomous and non-autonomous ordinary differential equations. Reduction of some partial differetial equations to typical RG equations is also achieved by this approach and a simple recipe for providing RG equations is presented.

“…In the context of Hamiltonian systems subject to small-amplitude Hamiltonian perturbations, it has been shown [47,48] that the RG method yields results equivalent to those obtained from canonical Hamiltonian perturbation theory, up to and including O( 2 ). Finally, for completeness, we note that RG has also been applied to derive reduced or amplitude equations for certain nonlinear partial differential equations; see [4][5][6]12,13,10,24,28]. …”

“…After their works, many studies of the RG method have been done [10][11][12][13]16,21,22,[26][27][28][29][30][31][32]35,36,42,45,46,48,49,53,[55][56][57][58][59]. Kunihiro [28,29] interpreted an approximate solution obtained by the RG method as the envelope of a family of regular perturbation solutions.…”

“…In this section, we introduce the renormalization group method [12][13][14][15][16] using a FRW cosmological model. To obtain temporal evolution of the solution of the non-linear differential equation, we usually apply a perturbative expansion.…”

“…In this paper, we investigate the cosmological back reaction problem using the second order cosmological perturbation and the renormalization group method [12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19]. We treat a dust dominated universe and examine how the inhomogeneity affect the evolution of the background FRW universe.…”
