Injection drug use occurred primarily in two Eastern European studies [61,63] (43% crude unweighted mean); the remaining studies reporting injection drug use were from South and Central America [10,38], Asia [51,57] and the Middle East [58], all with a low prevalence (3% crude unweighted mean).
