Light dark bosons in the JUNO-TAO neutrino detector

Mikhail Smirnov,
Guang Yang,
Jiajun Liao
et al.

Abstract: This work presents a sensitivity study of a reactor liquid scintillator detector to three kinds of dark bosons with masses below 1 MeV, such as dark photons, axion-like particles and light scalar bosons. The JUNO-TAO detector with Taishan nuclear reactor is taken as a reference. With proposed 180 days data taking, the sensitivity to the dark bosons can reach ∼ 10 −5 95%C.L. for the optimized signal to background ratio for the electron coupling constant gX through inverse Comptonlike scattering. The background … Show more

“…As was already mentioned in Introduction, the DP production in the Compton-like γ e → A e process was studied in the fixed target experiments [79,80,82]. However, these low energy experiments were dealing with low mass DPs (m A < 100 MeV), while we examine heavy DPs (m A > 1 GeV).…”

“…The searches for the DP at e + e − colliders [73][74][75][76][77][78] (see also review papers [18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25]) have looked for its decays to the e + e − , μ + μ − and π + π − final states, as well as for invisible decays of A . The DP production in the Compton-like γ e → A e process is studied in [79,80]. The inverse process, A e → γ e, is recently considered in [81].…”

The DP production in the Compton-like γe → A ′ e process is studied in [79,80]. The inverse process, A ′ e → γe, is recently considered in [81].…”
